VHA seeking Deputy Director, NIO

Summary

The Supervisory Health System Specialist serves as Deputy Director for the Systems Redesign and Improvement branch of the National Improvement Office (NIO). This position is within the Office of Quality Management, which is organizationally aligned in the Veteran Health Administration’s (VHA) Office of Quality and Patient Safety (QPS).

Duties

  • Analyzes management techniques and processes that determine need for leadership, operational, strategic, workforce development and/or knowledge management systems or process improvement that ultimately improve organizational effectiveness and efficiency, staff engagement and Veteran health care outcomes.
  • Oversees several VA-wide programs and initiatives that provide strategic direction for VHA’s VISN and VAMC level field improvement teams.
  • Provides strategic direction and expertise for VHA’s continuous process improvement initiatives, including planning for and promoting a culture of improvement.
  • Directs complex technical and administrative functions that support Department-wide health care improvement activities and quality initiatives.
  • Manages and directs a geographically dispersed, virtual team of administrative and improvement staff.
