“As a member of The Experience Design team in the Enterprise Measurement & Design Directorate within the Veterans Experience Office, you will be working on a range of projects as part of the Design portfolio. We will rely on your aptitude for design leadership, design strategy, design research and synthesis, visual and content storytelling, building design capacity, technical expertise in design and communications and an ability to navigate the needs of complex stakeholder groups.”
Responsibilities:
- Scope and execute design research that helps federal programs better understand stakeholder needs to inform improved government products, services, policies and processes
- Work collaboratively with other designers to design, prototype, test, and deliver design solutions that further the Design team’s project work
- Facilitate design synthesis activities, generating insights and opportunities for intervention
- Manage multiple stakeholders’ needs both effectively and sensitively
- Communicate research findings through a variety of formats (such as insights, reports, stories, videos, and experiences) to maximize relevance and impact
- Work closely with leaders to support their understanding of human-centered design methods, approaches, and applications
- Curate and share practices that help drive successful adoption and practice of design
- Contribute as part of a multi-disciplinary team comprised of subject matter experts, service designers, visual designers, content strategists, and more under tight timelines
- Lead and contribute to the delivery of complex design projects, driving collaborative and positive team dynamics
- Craft visual designs based on research and input from colleagues
- Determine how illustrations, photography or other graphic materials will be used in support of an improved experience for all stakeholders
- Recommend innovative approaches and techniques for communication to a variety of stakeholders
- Strong information design skills (including typography and layout) across a variety of mediums (audio, environmental, print and/or film) to ensure the story is delivered effectively
- Craft inspiring, intellectually stimulating and emotionally resonant stories about the role and impact of design
- Determine how media (including photography, video, and infographics) will be used in support of a variety of communication channels and to meet a diverse storytelling need
