Longtime Federal and Military Health medical SME and recent DHS Chief Medical Officer retires

Duane Caneva, who has served in a number of senior medical and public/health emergency preparedness leadership and officer roles across multiple Federal agencies including the Department of Homeland Security, White House, State Department, and the Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, has now retired, while identifying as “exploring”.

Given the perspective Duane can bring, we are certain that more than a few firms will be reaching out to inquire as to his availability.

Prior roles include:

  • Chief Medical Officer – Department of Homeland Security
  • Director, Medical and Public Health Preparedness Policy – National Security Council, The White House
  • Director, Emergency Preparedness – Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED)
