This effort will provide the OIT with the technical staff expertise to undertake its objectives in four (4) major areas of Enterprise Data Management (EDM) responsibility:
- Data Architecture Management
- Data Governance
- Data Quality Management
- Data Interoperability
These responsibilities require working with the OIT business partners, both internal to the VA and external, such as the Department of Defense (DoD), to establish and instantiate enterprise data management strategy, methods, standards, and governance that directly affect VA affiliate health, benefits, and safety.
VA requires an integrated, enterprise-wide data and metadata management solution that enables automation of metadata analytics of VA. This solution must include identification, analysis, and design of how enterprise information flows through VA processes, what the information represents, how accurate it is, how it flows from one place to another, how it is processed, and where it is stored.
