Kansas City Business Journal: VA skips out on hearing to address Cerner EHR concerns

“There were empty chairs where U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs officials should have been at a congressional hearing Wednesday. The department was called to appear before the an oversight subcommittee of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs to discuss its plan to address concerns related to its implementation of Cerner Corp.’s (Nasdaq: CERN) electronic health record system at VA facilities.”

“Wednesday’s hearing was scheduled to discuss the VA’s plans for addressing recommendations of government watchdogs. Notably missing from the hearing was the VA itself, which had refused to participate in the hearing designed to help remove it from the U.S. Government Accountability Office’ High Risk List.” Read the full article here.
