VA Oversight Expands beyond Mar-a-Lago members

House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Chairman Mark Takano is expanding the committee’s investigation into the influence three of President Donald Trump’s associates may have had on VA operations, including its massive EHR modernization project.

In a letter to VA secretary Robert Wilkie Thursday, Takano said he was broadening the scope of the investigation beyond Mar-a-Lago members Ike Perlmutter, Dr. Bruce Moskowitz, and Marc Sherman. He cited Isaac Arnsdorf’s ProPublica story describing a letter that cosmetic dentist Albert Hazzouri (a friend of Trump’s) wrote to the president requesting a meeting with the American Dental Association and oversight into federal spending on dental care for veterans.
