VA to award sole source for Medical Coding Audit and Education for Health Information Management Services at the VA Pacific Islands Health Care System

“The Department of Veterans Affairs, NCO 21, intends to award a sole source firm fixed price contract to CARAHSOFT TECHNOLOGY CORP. because they have the necessary expertise needed to perform the Medical Coding Audit and Education for Health Information Management Services at the VA Pacific Islands Health Care System.”

“The scope of the audit is to review the coding and documentation for 10 outpatient cases each of the 55 providers for a total of 550 cases and present findings and recommendations to the clinics.”

“The auditors will obtain random sample of 10 outpatient for 56 provider that are non-billable.”

“Goal of the audit will be to review/validate ICD-10 CM & CPT codes selected by the associated provider to ensure that correct codes are being selected, all codes are being selected and the documentation presented is sufficient to support intended codes.”

“At the completion of the audit, the audit team will provide a final report of findings by department and provider as well as a presentation to eight (8) different departments where results and recommendations can be discussed during the three days on-site…”
