Federal News Radio: GAO outlines effectiveness of CMS demonstrations

“Medicaid law give states some flexibility in how they administer their programs. Often, they conduct demonstrations — paid for by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services — designed to cut costs and improve care for Medicaid patients. Problem is, CMS can’t be sure these demonstration programs actually demonstrate what they are supposed to. Katherine Iritani, director of healthcare issues at the Government Accountability Office, joined Federal Drive with Tom Temin to explain further.” Listen here.
