Sources Sought: Integrated Library System (ILS) for VA Library

VA Library Network (VALNET) is a health sciences library network whose librarians provide knowledge-based information for clinical and management decision-making, research, and education to enhance the quality of care for Veterans enrolled in the VA Health Care System.

The Library Network Office (LNO) is the program office that supports VALNET library professionals and staff with centralized services and resources, policies and procedures, staff development opportunities, and assistance with local library issues.  Centralized purchases of services and resources funded at the national level provide volume discounts and reduce labor hours of personnel to maintain separate contracts at each medical center.

LNO is in the process of reviewing the continued viability of these technical services contracts, and is assessing the possibility of funding a web-based ILS for VALNET libraries that would allow for cost savings, central administration of the system, and a consolidation of library holdings that would provide sharing opportunities across the network.
