Politico: Update on MHS Genesis – Cerner EHR Implementation Progress

Excerpt from Politico Morning eHealth – April 3, 2017, By Arthur Allen

“UPDATE ON MHS GENESIS: The DoD gave an update on its Cerner implementation in the Pacific Northwest during a Senate appropriations subcommittee hearing last week. Project manager Stacy Cummings testified that implementations at Naval Hospital Oak Harbor, Naval Hospital Bremerton and Madigan Army Medical Center (Fairchild Air Force Base went live in February) will start around September, with testing to assure the system “meets all requirements for effectiveness, suitability and data interoperability to support a full deployment decision in 2018.” Thereafter, Cummings says, deployments will occur by region-with a total of 23 waves in three continental U.S. regions and two overseas, each wave averaging three hospitals and 15 physical locations. The full implementation is scheduled to end in 2022.”
