VA taps Physician, Chief Health Informatics Officer (VISN 12)

Agwu Onuoha, armed with experience serving as the clinical leader in the development, implementation, and communications of clinical informatics processes and tools to facilitate and support quality care for Veterans, has been tapped by the Department of Veterans Affairs as Chief Health Informatics Officer for VISN 12.

In this new role Dr. Onuoha will have oversight of eight medical facilities and more than thirty clinics and will also serve as the Subject Matter Expert and Informatics Advisor for the VHA Electronic Health Records Modernization (EHRM) project.

Prior roles include:

  • Chief Health Informatics Officer – Tomah VA Medical Center
  • Lead/Staff Physician- Atlanta VA – Department of Veterans Affairs
