VA taps Associate Deputy Under Secretary for Health

Erica Scavella, armed with perspective gained over more than two decades with the Department of Veterans Affairs, has taken on a new role as Associate Deputy Under Secretary for Health.

In her new role Erica will be responsible for identifying and mitigating risks identified through a highly complex office composed of five interrelated and fully aligned functional areas within VHA: 1) Office of Compliance and Business Integrity (CBI); 2) Office of the Medical Inspector (OMI); 3) Office of Internal Audit (IA); 4) Office of Research Oversight (ORO); and 5) National Center for Ethics in Health Care (NCEHC).

Prior roles include:

  • The Medical Inspector – U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Attending Physician – U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
