“The Deputy Executive Director (DED) for the Enterprise Program Integration Office (EPIO) reports to the Executive Director (ED) for EPIO and is responsible for providing oversight of agency-wide efforts to support major initiatives.”
Responsibilities:
The DED focuses on ensuring internal tools, processes, and technologies are aligned in support of Department-wide governance for integrating disparate projects/initiatives and instituting leading practices for program management to ensure they achieve their identified milestones and outcomes, with the end goal of improving the value of services provided in support of Veterans and their families, balanced by VA’s fiduciary responsibility to taxpayers. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assists leadership in developing integrated program plans, objectives, and transformation initiatives for the VA.
- Reviews program/initiative operating plans to ensure planned activities are linked to the VA’s strategic plan and the resources and support required are available to deliver these activities successfully.
- Applies a variety of leading practices and methodologies to improve successful completion and adoption of initiatives including program and project management, stakeholder management, communications and change management.
- Manages the day-to-day execution of the program management reviews through the VA governance processes to ensure Department-level approved initiatives are on track with cost, schedule and performance milestones and risks are identified, and mitigated to achieve successful program/initiative outcomes.
- Coordinates with project leaders and associated executives to provide strategic and tactical support to ensure initiative success.
- Monitors and evaluates initiatives in coordination with the strategic management framework and its governance system to effectively convey status and engage leadership from across the agency.
