Bloomberg Government: VA to Debut Long-Term IT Acquisition Plans at June Briefing

“The Department of Veterans Affairs will share its plans for an upcoming information technology acquisition in a June 24 virtual briefing.”

“The VA’s Technology Acquisition Center (TAC) will livestream the Advanced Planning Brief to Industry from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. ET to address agency “acquisition and IT transformation initiatives,” according to an announcement.”

“The briefing will offer industry a long-run view of its technology needs and feature comments by the department’s Chief Information Officer James Gfrerer, Chief Technology Officer Charles Worthington, and other top IT acquisition officials.”

“Since fiscal 2016, the TAC has obligated $17.1 billion on information technology contracts, or about 90% of the department’s total IT spending of $18.9 billion. The vast majority of TAC IT spending over that span has fallen onto five contracts: Transformation Twenty-One Total Technologies Next Generation (T4NG, $3.8 billion), SEWP V ($3.3 billion), the now-expired Transformation Twenty-One Total Techologies (VA T4, $2.6 billion), Schedule 70 ($1.9 billion), and the department’s Electronic Health Record Modernization contract with Cerner Corp.
