Abt seeking Principal Associate, CMS

Abt Associates is a seeking a Principal Associate to support its portfolio of work for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, with a focus on projects funded by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage significant business development activities by obtaining additional work from existing clients or by identifying new markets and sales opportunities
  • Direct sales and proposal efforts in accordance with the Division’s business development plan
  • Oversee the technical and scientific approaches of proposals, lead negotiations with existing and potential partners, and leverage technical competence, experience and reputation to attract new clients and to open potential markets. Meet annual sales target of $3-5 million in revenue
  • Direct particularly complex and large projects with primary responsibility for client relations, work quality, and budget/financial performance. Additionally may serve as a lead technical design expert on projects, or as an external quality reviewer
  • Oversee policies and protocols to carry out research by providing technical guidance and mentoring to less senior staff through the application of advanced techniques, concepts and methods related to a particular field of specialization

Preferred Skills / Prerequisites

  • Name recognition at CMS (preferably CMMI) with proven track record (3+ years) successfully leading large implementation and/or evaluation projects
  • Highest level of proven technical expertise and sought out as an expert. Excellent writing ability, including CMS/CMMI reports and peer-reviewed papers

Minimum Qualifications

  • Relevant Masters degree with 15+ years of experience OR PhD with 10+ years of experience OR the equivalent combination of education and experience
