mHealth Intelligence: Maryland Seeks Telehealth Platform to Improve Nursing Home Care

“Maryland officials are searching for a telehealth platform that can help the state’s nursing homes improve care management for their patients.”

“It also has to be widely adopted and sustainable, integrate with electronic health records and state-designated health information exchanges and reduce rehospitalizations and unnecessary medical expenses.”

“That’s the challenge facing healthcare providers and connected health companies who will vie for a two-year, $750,000 grant –and subsequent grants – from the Maryland Health Care Commission…”

“In its 13-page bid notice, the MHCC is looking for a telehealth program linking nursing homes with appropriate healthcare providers that ‘must be designed to meet care delivery needs, support transitions, and curb unnecessary emergency department use and re-hospitalizations,’ especially within the 30-day window after hospital discharge that can lead to federal penalties. It must also have a ‘robust vision’ for sustainability over five years and beyond, and include family and caregivers in the support loop…” Read the full article here.
