Veterans Affairs Posts Chief Technology Officer role

“The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) serves as a principal advisor to the Assistant Secretary and Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Office of Information & Technology (OIT). The responsibilities include, but not limited to: 

  • The Chief Technology Officer designs the technical vision to meet strategic goals and recommends the appropriate technology solutions to support the policies and directives issued by the Assistant Secretary and Chief Information Officer (CIO). 
  • Directs and executes technology research and development projects to identify, access, and investigate high-risk, high-return technologies possessing potential application for performance of information technology in support of mission accomplishments. 
  • The Executive Director provides leadership for key architects including enterprise architecture, security architecture, and data architecture processes. 
  • Spearheads programs that increase OIT’s ability to serve Veterans and customers through mobile service and cloud-shared services. 
  • Manage the Research and Development of an intensive high-tech team, such as an application software maker or a cloud provider, inventing and designing the product, and the technical aspects of the product. 
  • Responsible for the full technology-to-product life cycle; and becoming the expert on emerging technologies and trends, with responsibility for educating clients and helping them apply new technologies…”
