The incumbent serves as Chief Information Officer (CIO), Information Technology Branch (ITB), and has responsibility for planning and directing all aspects of the work of the Branch. The incumbent serves as a senior manager and principal adviser on IT issues to senior officials, with responsibility for overseeing, managing, and directing a full range of IT services for client organizations.
Responsibilities:
- Directs a professional and technical staff that delivers a wide range of IT services to ORS and ORF organizations, and develops and implements operating policies and procedures.
- Plays a key role in formulating long-range policies and in developing and implementing strategies and management guidelines for complex and changing information technology systems.
- Provides expert analysis and advice, and develops solutions to solve issues and problems associated with agency-wide IT programs.
- Participates on agency, Federal, and non-governmental committees relative to equipment and system software policy and technology planning.
Qualifications:
You qualify at the GS-15 level, if you meet the following qualification requirements:
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal Government. Specialized experience is typically gained in the IT field or through performing IT related tasks such as:
- Developing and implementing policies and procedures pertaining to the acquisition, utilization, maintenance, upgrading and management of IT resources;
- Serving as the expert authority on a wide range of issues relating to data archive, database architecture, information systems, computer operations and computer networks;
- Providing direction for the complete life-cycle of systems including analysis, design, installation, testing, and security for scientific and business applications;
- Developing long range plans/budgets for information systems redesign and enhancement; supervising and or leading a team of employees in the information technology field.
