VA seeking National Director of Medicine

The National Director of Medicine serves as senior and principal advisor to the Chief Officer, Specialty Care Services on all policies and procedures pertaining to delivery of services, assessment of services, and outcome analysis relating to: critical care, cardiology, diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology, pain management, oncology, nephrology, emergency medicine and molecular medicine. The National Director provides national leadership to and has advisory and consultative responsibility for all Veterans Health Administration (VHA) medical services programs and initiatives. VACO and field-based program directors for cardiology, diabetes and endocrinology, nephrology, oncology, infectious diseases, and pulmonary diseases, as well as all medical Field Advisory Committees (FACs) report to the National Director. In addition, there are a number of Specific Purpose Workgroups that the National Director will oversee. Additionally, the incumbent collaborates with Network and Medical Center Directors to ensure that top quality medical healthcare delivery services are made available, immediately accessible, and efficiently provided to all eligible veterans as clinically indicated. The National Director develops short and long-term goals, objectives, priorities, and plans for the programs consistent with VA’s and VHA’s missions, strategies, and goals.
